In 2003, Hearnes center had been home to MU athletics for almost four decades. However, at the time, Mizzou Arena was under construction and scheduled to open in 2004. This is one of the Savitar's last looks at Hearnes.

Previously, Mizzou Basketball played at the Hearnes Center. In 2003, construction began for a new arena. Mizzou Arena can be also known as Paige Sports Arena.

The University holds the annual Tiger Walk event. Every year before school starts, freshmen symbolize their integration into the University through walking through the Columns.
