Information about book: This is the first English bible with roman type. It was translated according to the Hebrew and Greek. It was named Breeches Bible because in Genesis 3:7, the word breeches referred to an apron, which commented on the size and functionality of this particular pocket bible.

Monastic order or culture of origin unknown. Label card indicates possibly Spanish and from the Seventeenth Century. Musical notation includes five staff notation with square notes with Gothic typography. Possibly the "He" bible, 2nd edition after the "She" bible. Recto side is printed with Job Chapter 14-(top of) 15 (verses 1-2). Verso side is printed with Job Chapter 15 verses 3-35 – Chapter 16 (verses 1-5). Each chapter is enumerated with Roman numerals and begins with an historiated initial. Chapter titles and description are in Roman type and the verses are in Gothic script. The text is set in two columns with book and chapter annotations are in margins. The top of each side has a brief summary sentence (recto) "The breuitie of mans life."; (verso) "Causes why Job is reprehended."

Persian MS Koran : [1 leaf]

Persian manuscript of the Qu'ran (Koran). The particular verse is unknown. The writing is done in a slanted calligraphic style. According to the author of the label card included in the Pages From the Past folio, the slanted calligraphic style is a later convention and cannot be found in Persian manuscripts earlier than the Seventeenth Century. This has not been confirmed. The page contains blue and gold bordering with gold floral motif illumination. In a zoomed in view, guide marks of a small "swirl" shape can be seen down the center of the folio in red ink. There are small Persian characters that have been cut off at the bottom edges of the folio.,This leaf was identified from information on the label.
